Navigating through menus can be a little frustrating after a while. You could add a Settings option to speedup (even completely disable) fadein and fadeout effects when changing between screens, Also, a cache mechanism would be useful, but is that asking too much?

I have a camera that takes videos in this codec/format and I can't play them on my WDTV. I have many hours of video recorded that I'd like to watch on my TV. And for some reason I have trouble converting this codec to any other "more standardized" codec.

Many cameras use this codec...Nikon, Canon,...

I'd like to see a simple shot-down timer implemented.

Just something like 15,30,45,60,90,120min would be cool.

It could be placed under the menu that you get while playing video (where you have subtitles, zoom,etc)

Currently there is no Hebrew subtitle srt support. In order to view hebrew subtitles we need to convert them to IDX/SUB files.
It would really help if WD could add hebrew support.

To me it seemed a useful thing to use the filters type DFX or FFDshow (clarify, normalize, hi-pas filter) is used to improve divx "screener"

Would be nice to change skins so the looks of your browser can be changed just like eg winamp.

Actually there is only the option to browse either video or audio or images on the WD TV HD. I suggest a sort of file browsing, where the user can see/browse/choose all media file-types (maybe also with txt/nfo support).

A simple playlist support for photos will enable users to better organize their photo collection in hard disks and use WDTV to play slide shows.

If you have access to the folder / osd, then users would be able to change the design as they choose.
Later, you can create a database of templates.
For example, now has a fix for 4 large miniatures.

In long lists we have to scroll a lot to reach near the middle. The top of the screen could contain shortcuts like A-E, F-K, L-S and so on, so that we can jump at once near the file needed.

If you playback video and go to main menu you can't resume playback with Resume button. You must find movie and start it again. Only then you can resume playback.

I would like the search function to find all "folders" containing band name. Example: Search AC DC and it finds and lists my "Folders" labeled AC DC - 2009 - Black Ice, AC DC - 1980 - Back In Black etc.
For alphabetical purposes, skip "The" in folder view so that..example..."The Beatles" will be listed in "Bs" not "Ts"

Show/Unshow subtitles .kar when music playing.

When powering system on or during firmware flash reset, TV displays INVALID FORMAT or main screen is shrunk and displaced on the screen in an apparent improper setting of resolution and/or frequency. There seems to be an issue with some TV and proper interrogation and setting via HDMI. Almost bricked my WDTV during a flash because I could not tell it was still applying update after a auto-reset and no video due to INVALID FORMAT.

I still find this really clunky. Also unreliable. Especially on MPEG-2 recorded TV. Often it says it has moved but when you press play you wither haven't advanced at all or a lot less than shown.
