I have a camera that takes videos in this codec/format and I can't play them on my WDTV. I have many hours of video recorded that I'd like to watch on my TV. And for some reason I have trouble converting this codec to any other "more standardized" codec.

Many cameras use this codec...Nikon, Canon,...

Codec ID : sowt

Possibility to see more file info, like:
-Resolution,
-Codecs,
-FPS,
-Etc.

most of my files are m4v and wd-tv cannot read the chapters in order to skip ahead. So i have to change each file to mp4 so as to be able to ff and rewind, but that really sucks when you want to get to a scene near the end.. IT TAKES FOREVER.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow it to read chapters in a m4v file.

As in thumbnail support, perhaps we could have the synopsis and rating in a file? For example:

the .imdb file could be a text file with info like:
rating: 8.6
release year: 2002
director: Peter Jackson
Running time: 179 mins

With 1.02.08 Powered USB HUB support seems to have gone away. Although it was never "officially" supported, they functioned with previous FW versions.

Such an awesome device should not be limited to only 2 drives.

Just record them into the database at the actual disk! Then you can even resume your movie on another WDTV unit!

It would be nice to skip or navigate through chapters in an MKV (and any other container that allows chapters) by using then Prev - Next buttons or the < - > arrow buttons.

It is a little cumbersome hitting options, selecting chapters and then going to the chapter menu and then looking for the chapter i want.

Possibility to playback of sequence mts (m2ts) files without pauses between them is needed .

I'd like to see a simple shot-down timer implemented.

Just something like 15,30,45,60,90,120min would be cool.

It could be placed under the menu that you get while playing video (where you have subtitles, zoom,etc)

it would be nice if it chooses output frequency based on the source. ie 23,97, 24, 25, 29,97 , 30

ofcourse it should take into account the compatibility of the TV, since some tvs dont support certain frequencies.

should also take into account the analog connected TVs/WDs! For example if i have it set on pal, it should output in either 25, 50 or 60 fps (if im correct?).

Allow the user to switch between normal and widescreen while watching videos.

If you have access to the folder / osd, then users would be able to change the design as they choose.
Later, you can create a database of templates.
For example, now has a fix for 4 large miniatures.

Add a clock to the menu display and a clock option while watching a movie.

because we use folder.jpg, to change the pictures of folders, all files "folder.jpg" should not appear in photos. (it's possible?)
or define one name for the image file folder and not appear in photos.
