it's new file system. replacement for FAT32.
no limits for file size and more....
Under review for 4 years? New Macs and Windows 8 can't even format a drive to Fat32 - had to reformat on a WIndows 7 machine Please add - it will be a serious problem shortly!
exFAT is better for flash drives than ext3/ntfs and supports large files. It works find in linux windows mac.
I won't buy another WDTV until it gets this support - which is annoying because I really like the device.
Sure, that's why I wouldn't yet another M$ patent encumbered format added. You've read about M$ vs. TomTom, haven't you? I'm also quite surprised to see that device with a Linux OS does not support ext2/3.
Techflaws - it's standard file system for SDXC flash cards (for SD cards bigger that 32 GB). But don't worry: FAT, FAT32 and NTFS it's by Micros~1 file systems too :)
And it's by Micros~1. Thanks but no thanks!
